SR. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Background: The South Asia Social Development Unit (SASDS) is chargcd with addressing the social dimensions of the World Bank's operations, including ensuring that Bank-financed operations adhere to social safeguards policies in the South Asia Region (SAR). SASDS is recruiting an Islamabad-based Sr. Social Development Specialist under the Islamabad Office remuneration plan, to cover the social development dimensions of the Bank's work in Pakistan.
Selection Criteria: The successful candidate should have: •An advanced degree (Masters) in a relevant social science with at least 8 years of experience in areas relevant to social safeguards and social development; experience in SAR preferred.

Selection Criteria: The successful candidate should have: •An advanced degree (Masters) in a relevant social science with at least 8 years of experience in areas relevant to social safeguards and social development; experience in SAR preferred.
- 1. Extensive knowledge and experience in addressing issues covered by social safeguard policies in complex and challenging settings, and across sectors. Demonstrated ability to translate analytical work related to social safeguards issues into policy advice and actionable, practical recommendations.
- 2. Experience on land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation, and assessment and monitoring of Resettlement Plans and Indigenous Peoples Development Plans.
- 3. Ability to present complex social safeguards and social development issues to task teams and Bank audiences, and to engage effectively with Government counterparts, private sector, project beneficiaries and civil society.
- 4. Strong analytical and oral/written communications skills.
- 5. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and team skills, and ability to think innovatively and strategically to find balanced solutions to complex development problems.
- 6. Ability to work across sector boundaries, work in cross- thematic teams, foster team work and mentor less experienced staff.
