Ministry of National Food Security & Research, Invites applications to fill the position of Director General / Project Director for its Project titled “Special Programme for Strengthening SPS Facilities and Quality Inspection Services in Compliance With WTO- Establishment of NAPHIS” on contract basis on lump sum salary package of Rs. 115, 000/- (all inclusive) initially for a period of six months, may be extended up to the life of the project. Pakistani nationals fulfilling following criteria may apply:
Age: Maximum 55 years.
Qualification and Experience.
Advance university degree in agriculture Economics/ natural science/ social science, MBA or any other Post-Graduate qualification with project related managerial experience in the field of sanitary Phyto Sanitary (SPS) and allied fields.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of and at least 10 years work experience in SPS chain management issues particularly in Pakistan’s trade context with appropriate background in implementation of mega development projects/ programmes.
Indepth understanding of multilateral rules on Sanitary and Phytosanitary standards (SPS) Particularly the WTO –SPS and the TBT agreements.
Through understanding of agriculture and public health related issues in national and international context with ability to manage multidisciplinary team of professionals and design specialized progress monitoring and performance evaluation tools to ensure feedback on various stages of project implementation.
Understanding of functions and working of codes Alimentarious Commission.
Experience of working in or with the government organizations and international exposure will be preferred.
Job Description:
The director General / Project Director will take up the responsibility of project execution with respect to administrative, financial and other project related matters under the guidance of Steering committee of the project. More specifically he will:
Plan and execute the day to day working of NAPHIS:
Design a detailed work plan and implementation strategy to realize objective of the Project:
Plan and execute the day to day working of NAPHIS:

Plan, implement and coordinate operational activities of the project with NAPHIS component units.
Liaise with international standards setting organizations and where necessary will participate in the meetings.
Liaise with and provide technical advice to the federal/ provincial governments agencies on NAPHIS related issues:
Provide technical advice and support to the ministry of National Food security & Research to proactively defined Pakistan’s agro-based trade interests, concerning SPS and Codex standards: and
Establish effective coordination and consultative mechanisms with key stakeholders.
